Stowe House Preservation Trust
In addition to my role with the Historic Houses Foundation, I have also been chair of the Hall Bequest Trust which supports research and scholarship associated with Stowe House, supporting bursaries and acquiring historic works of art associated with the house. I am also a former trustee of the Stowe House Preservation Trust which manages the major restoration of the house and its principal interiors, including the Blue Drawing Room and the Temple Drawing Room and the State Dining Room (pictured), and also manages the public opening of the house; I also served on the Interiors Working Group advising the trust, alongside Martin Drury, Annabel Westman, Patrick Baty and others, under the chairmanship of Andrew Fane.
I have always been pleased and proud to help serve the protection and celebration of our nation’s built heritage.
Ely Cathedral Advisory Committee
I sit on the Ely Cathedral Fabric Advisory Committee, which advises the Dean and Chapter on conservation work, alterations and presentation issues of the Cathedral and its monuments; among the things we have given advice on recently was the new Octagon altar and related furnishings, designed by Luke Hughes, and consecrated in 2018.
Other Committee Work
Other committee work includes being on the Council for the Cambridge Antiquarian Society, and formerly served on the Council for the Care of Churches (now Church Buildings Council), and on the sculpture and furnishings subcommittee of the CCC; I was also on the peer review panel for the Churches Conservation Trust.
